Ryken Internship Student Experience

The Xaverian Ryken Internship Student Experience, known as RISE, gives qualified students an opportunity for hands-on experience in their field of interest. The goal is for both interns and employers to mutually benefit from these experiences. Our students gain valuable, real-world experience. Our RISE employers assist our young men in developing their skills and interests while simultaneously helping prepare them for life after Xaverian. In doing so, they not only serve the young men in these internships, but also their community and their chosen field. R.I.S.E is a rigorous internship program that calls on students to be thoughtful and reflective as they grow both academically and as a young professional.

EXPECTATIONS OF RISE EMPLOYERS

RISE is a hands-on student internship program that begins in mid-June and concludes at the end of July. We expect RISE interns to join their employer onsite and in-person for 3-5 days per week and approximately 4-8 hours per day during the course of these six weeks. While the decision to make this a paid or unpaid internship is up to the employer, we require RISE employers to provide direct supervision and mentorship to the intern. Please note that Xaverian will have a rigorous and thorough internal interview process, ensuring program applicants are hardworking, punctual, and dedicated to meeting the expectations of both Xaverian and the employer before being recommended. RISE employers will have the opportunity to conduct their own interview with the prospective intern before deciding to move forward. RISE employers are required to establish and share clear expectations, duties, and outcomes before the participant begins his internship.
