Hawks Place First in Cape Cod Invitational

Congratulations to Xaverian's Golf Team!

On Sunday, September 22, Xaverian’s golf team captured first place at the annual Cape Cod National High School Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament featured the eleven best golf teams in the state of Massachusetts, as well as several top individual players.

The format for the competition was 18 holes of stroke play, with each team keeping the best three scores and adding the totals. In addition to an already challenging course, the weather conditions made the competition tougher, with a steady northeast wind and rain squalls happening throughout the day.

Teamwide consistency was the key to the Hawks’ win. Quinn Dumas ’26 led the way with a 4-over par 76, while Michael McCormack ’27 shot a 77, and Thomas Constantine ’26 shot a 78. Senior co-captain, Connor Walsh, shot a 79. The Hawks won the contest by five strokes over the runner-up, St. John’s Prep.

Coach Gerry Lambert ’88 says he is very impressed with the team’s ability to grind out a win, given both the strong competition and weather conditions. “You’re already talking about a tense postseason atmosphere with all the talented teams in the mix, but when you add in Mother Nature’s challenges, it was a real test of mental toughness,” he said. “The guys were consistent and disciplined in their approach, not trying to do too much. If we can continue that mindset into the second half of the season and the playoffs, I think we’ll be a very tough team to beat.”

As of September 23, the Hawk’s are 6-1 on the season.
